Facilities Maintenance and Grounds Manager

The Facilities Maintenance and Grounds Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of Ryobi facilities and its surrounding properties. This role involves performing hands-on tasks, operating machinery, and supervising contract staff or vendors engaged in maintaining systems and equipment across the 400+ acre ranch in Carbondale, CO. 

Mission: Our mission is to preserve the former art collection of John and Kimiko Powers, now under the stewardship of the Ryobi Foundation, highlight the paper works of Jasper Johns, and cultivate the next generation of art lovers and collectors. 
 

Working Relationships:
Reports to Director of Facilities Works closely with the Collections, Facilities & Technology Manager, Operations Manager, and Powers Art Center Museum Director
Interactions with CEO and Board members when on property 

 

Responsibilities include:  
 

Facilities 

  • Oversees and handles property’s needs 
  • Monitors the facilities, performs repairs and maintenance as needed and as possible 
  • Prepares project timelines in consultation with the Director of Facilities. 
  • Assists with building improvements, construction, and unique builds  
  • Monitors and works with contractors and laborers on projects and ongoing maintenance 
  • Manages landscaping needs, requests and upgrades, including irrigation repairs and upgrades, and ranch tasks  
  • Operates and maintains equipment owned by the Ryobi Foundation 

Museum 

  • Assists with setup and parking lot management the museum at art openings and Power talks  
  • Helps with museum installation and deinstallation 
  • Manages snow removal at museum entrance and pathways 

Grounds 

  • Manages snow removal to keep the roads accessible for staff and visitors  
  • Creates and implements seasonal maintenance projects: Spring and Fall landscaping clean-up and preparation, Reflecting pool preparation and winterization, irrigation winterization, and museum bi-annual maintenance work 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities  

  • Ability to anticipate and prevent potentially harmful circumstances related to facilities operations 
  • Analytical skills to manage building/facilities and report on key issues to leadership 
  • Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload; recommend changes in practices or procedures 
  • Ability to handle manual labor as needed 
  • Dependability, flexibility, and adaptability in a dynamic environment.  
  • Ability to read, understand, and complete written and verbal requests, work assignments, schematics, as well as interpreting documents such as safety rules, product information manuals, and instructions 
  • Communicate clearly both orally and in writing  
  • Ability to represent the Ryobi Foundation & Powers Art Center with a high level of integrity, professionalism, and support management decisions in a positive, professional manner 

 

Requirements and Qualifications  

  • Any combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job  
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license and satisfactory driving record throughout employment 
  • May be required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and to lift and move between thirty to fifty pounds without assistance. Work is indoors and outdoors

Time and Compensation Details:  

Full-time, exempt; 40 hours per week.  This is a salaried position that requires availability Monday through Friday with an occasional weekend, evening, and holiday work. The Facilities Maintenance and Grounds Manager is required to be readily available should any building emergency occur. Salary range is $70,000 to $85,000.
