ABOUT REGINALD DWAYNE BETTS Reginald Dwayne Betts holds an MFA in poetry from Warren Wilson College and received his law degree from Yale Law School. A 2021 MacArthur Fellow, he is the Executive Director of Freedom Reads, a not-for-profit organization that is radically transforming the access to literature in prisons through the installation of Freedom Libraries in prisons across this country. Betts’ memoir A Question of Freedom chronicles Betts’s years in prison as a youth, reflecting back on his crime and looking ahead to how his experiences and the books he discovered while incarcerated would define him.
