Dandelion Market is the Roaring Fork Valley’s only community-owned natural foods store, and has served the area for more than eight years. Located at 559 Main St. in Carbondale, we’re open seven days a week. There’s no need to have a membership to shop -- all are welcome! We strive to support local businesses and local agriculture; we are committed to encouraging informed choices and to serving our customers and members by providing healthy, organic, and sustainable foods and other products. We’re dedicated to paying our staff livable wages while providing a pleasant environment to shop and work.
Dandelion Market, formerly known as Carbondale Community Food Co-op, started as an organized buyers’ club in response to the need for healthy, affordable organic food in Carbondale. In 2007 the co-op began selling memberships to build equity towards opening a natural foods store. Most co-ops build member equity until there is enough money to open the store, but CCFC was offered a loan to get the doors open as quickly as possible. In 2016 the co-op’s membership approved adopting the ''doing business as'' name of Dandelion Market.
Members own Dandelion Market; without them, there could be no food co-op. Member benefits include 5 percent off on weekends; 10 percent off on the last Saturday of each month (member appreciation day); discount bulk purchases; the opportunity to be a working member and earn up to 25 percent off every day; and, perhaps most important, voting rights on all major decisions involving the co-op.
